Russia accuses the US of direct involvement in the war in Ukraine
The most senior Russian lawmaker accused the US of having military activities directly involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“Washington is actually coordinating and developing military operations, thereby directly participating in military actions against our country,” the Speaker of the House of Representatives said. Russia (State Duma) Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on the Telegram page on May 7.
According to Reuters, the United States and European countries that are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have transferred heavy weapons to Kiev to help counter Russia’s military offensive campaign. However, Washington and its allies have repeatedly asserted that they will not send troops directly into the war to avoid becoming a party to the conflict.
US officials have revealed that the United States provided intelligence that helped Ukraine repel Russian raids, but denied that such intelligence included precision targeting data.
So far, Moscow forces have gained control of parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, but failed to capture the capital, Kiev.
State Duma Chairman Volodin is one of a number of Russian politicians enthusiastically supporting Moscow’s “special operation” to degrade Ukraine’s military capabilities as well as “to root out” what Moscow calls “the Fascist elements are manipulating the government and army” of its southern neighbor. According to Volodin, foreign advisers have been working in Ukraine since Volodymyr Zelensky was elected president of Ukraine in 2019.
Opposite, Ukraine and the West condemns this as an excuse created by Russia to mobilize troops with neighboring countries. Since the war broke out on February 24, thousands of people in Ukraine have been killed and more than 5 million others have to flee the country.
