Russia announced the completion of the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal steel plant in Ukraine

In a statement posted on the Internet, the Russian Defense Ministry said that a total of 51 people, including 18 men, 22 women and 11 children, were evacuation in a 3-day campaign, starting on 5/5.

Officials Ukraine also confirmed, all women, children and elderly people have been evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said that all women, children and elderly people have been evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant in the southern city of Mariupol.

“The President’s order has been carried out. This humanitarian operation has been completed,” Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk announced on May 7.

Sharing from inside the Azovstal steel plant on the evening of May 7, Mykhailo Vershynin, head of the Mariupol police patrol, said the meeting evacuate civilians was carried out without incident. He did not provide details on the number of people leaving.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces continue to blockade Ukrainian troops inside the factory, using artillery and tank fire when conducting attacks.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that since the conflict broke out, more than 300 civilians at the factory have been evacuated. Currently, Ukrainian authorities are focusing on evacuating the injured and medical staff, as well as ensuring the safety of people at other locations in Mariupol and the surrounding area.

Also on May 7, the UK announced that it would provide an additional 1.3 billion pounds (about 1.6 billion USD) to Ukraine. The move was made by London on the eve of the online meeting of the Group of Industrialized Countries (G7) with the participation of President Zelensky, scheduled to take place on May 7.

Thus, the UK has doubled its commitment to support Ukraine and is London’s largest expenditure on the conflict since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, the UK did not disclose detailed figures.

Not only providing military support, Britain has so far received Ukrainians evacuated from the country.

According to the British Government, since the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine In February, Britain granted visas to more than 86,000 Ukrainians, of which about 27,000 went to Britain.
