The result is as beautiful as coming out of a fairy tale, small but full of amenities
In architecture, Japanese design is one of the most influential and popular styles. Most houses built in the Japanese style use simple lines and little details. Besides, people also optimize the space by minimizing unnecessary furniture.
As a country with a dense population, the cost of land and housing in Japan is not cheap. This situation is one of the reasons why small apartments are chosen by a large number of people in the country of cherry blossoms.
Below is a project of a very small but fully equipped house made by a Japanese architect.

This small single-family home in a densely populated street measures just over 20 square metres. Different from the surrounding high-rise buildings, this single-family house has only one floor, with an interior area of 17.7 square meters. It can be said that this is a very small house.
Although the usable area is not large, this house is designed to make the most of the space. Not only that, its architecture is also completely different.
The owner of the house lives in Yokohama but the place of work is in Tokyo. Because it takes a lot of time to travel between the two places, he decided to buy a piece of land in Tokyo and design and build a unique self-contained house.
Like other major cities in the world, land prices in Tokyo are not cheap. The small family wishes to buy land and build a house to facilitate work but in reality does not have much money. Therefore, they can only buy a small space of 20 square meters near their workplace.

Thanks to the sophisticated and creative design, the living space, although not spacious, is still very comfortable and different.

To save space and not lose the beauty, the house used sliding doors. The only small space in front of the house is planted with some small flower plants to help the house become softer and more lively.
However, the biggest problem is: Both sides have high-rise buildings, how can the house still receive enough natural light? Because both sides have houses, for three winter months the small house has no light, the space inside will be dark and cold.
After consulting many works, the design team found inspiration in the houses of the Nordic country with long winters.

They decided to open a sculptural skylight on the roof, and then use a partition in the middle to reflect the light. Thanks to this, the lighting problem of the whole house can be solved.

Although the area of the room is small, its use is not inferior to that of ordinary houses.
Textured walls give it a natural and artistic feel. High ceilings, minimalist furniture, creative tones and layouts make the space harmonious and cozy.

The interior is divided into two parts by a wall half the height of a person. Adjacent to the street is the dining room, kitchen and bathroom, and inside is a carefully screened bedroom and bathroom.

The small backyard is designed as an outdoor bathroom with movable wall panels that can protect the privacy of the home. Not only that, this place is also an ideal space to enjoy the starry night sky at night.
The house is small but beautiful like a sculpture. No need for high-rise buildings or too large an area, this house in this 20 square meter land can still fully meet the living needs of a small family.
