Three brothers drowned

Yesterday afternoon, after mowing the grass for the cows to return, two brothers in Ea Bôk commune asked their father to go fishing at a pond about 500 meters away from home. Around 5 pm, the 9-year-old brother asked permission to come to the brothers. When the children did not come home late at night, the family went to find and found their bodies in the pond. According to the commune authorities, the victim’s family has 5 children (3 boys, 2 girls).

Recently, there have been cases of drowning children. Most of the incidents occurred when children went out, fished, bathed in rivers, streams, ponds, deep and fast-flowing canals. Because they are not accompanied by an adult, when caught in water, it is difficult for children to find help.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for Vietnamese children aged 2-15. On average each year, the country records more than 2,000 child deaths from drowning – higher than other Southeast Asian countries, according to a report by the Department of Children (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) at the end of 2020. .
