SEA Games 31 has started with men’s football from May 6. Yesterday (May 7), stories and pictures of Vietnamese fans cheering for Laos U23 as well as other teams were widely shared on social networks.
On the stands of Thien Truong Stadium, Vietnamese fans carried the Lao flag, cheering and celebrating goals for their country’s players. Before that, the Nam Dinh fan club even had a parade and cheering at the hotel where U23 Laos was stationed.
In the stands of the match between U23 Laos and U23 Singapore, there was also the appearance of the runner-up of the Miss Laos 2019 contest, Xanita Savengxok.
Runner-up Laos is present at Thien Truong.
Currently, Xanita is 21 years old and studying at the University of Transport Technology in Hanoi. On the morning of April 7, Xanita and many Lao international students in Vietnam rode down to Thien Truong yard from Hanoi.
“I’ve been to Vietnam for 2 years now. I chose Vietnam as a study abroad destination because I like the culture of Vietnam, especially during the Lunar New Year when families are reunited and reunited. Also because of the love. Vietnamese culture, so I chose to study here.

Witnessing Nam Dinh fans coming to Thien Truong yard to watch the ball and cheer, Xanita was extremely surprised.
“At first, I thought that because there was no home team, the stadium would be empty. Unexpectedly, I was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of Nam Dinh fans. During the match, they cheered, waved flags and danced to celebrate. Vietnamese staff did something that cannot be found anywhere else when fans filled the field and enthusiastically cheered for other teams.” Xanita expressed.

Although leading 2-0, but in the end U23 Laos only got 1 point because Singapore U23 equalized in the last minute of injury time, Xanita herself and her friends were quite sad. However, the next match, she will definitely still accompany the home team players.
Sharing about herself, Xanita said she has been a football fan since childhood: “I’m a fan of Man United and the player I admire the most is Cristiano Ronaldo.”
