The matchmaker took note of the information and promised to soon introduce a suitable match for Mr. Wang’s son.

Zhang, who was at the matchmaking center that day, recorded the incident and posted it on social media.

The clip quickly received much attention, with many mixed comments.

Some argue that marriage is becoming more and more expensive, leading to the groom’s family having to be so rich to find a life partner.

In recent years, the situation of too high wedding challenge prices has gradually appeared in many provinces and cities in the land of billions of people.

The increasingly high wedding prices are believed to stem from the large male-female gap in the country of billions of people. As a result, more and more Chinese men are struggling to find a way to get married, or even have to give up their dream of starting a family.

In June 2013, the “map” of wedding challenge prices in the country of billions of people was published for the first time by Sina. Accordingly, the highest wedding challenge is in Shanghai, which includes a house and 100,000 yuan (14,900 USD).

In Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Jiangxi and Qinghai provinces around 500,000 yuan (nearly $75,000); Shandong, Hunan, and Zhejiang have a “common price” of 100,000 yuan (14,800 USD), a relatively high figure compared to the total annual per capita income of the people of this country, according to ThinkChina.

Based on the report of the National Bureau of Statistics of China 2014, the total annual per capita income of urban citizens is 27,000 yuan (4,020 USD) and 8,900 yuan (1,300 USD) for people in rural areas.

In recent years, wedding favors have doubled in many rural areas, while annual incomes have increased only slightly. “Not enough money to challenge the wedding, not to give up children” seems to be the general picture of the marriage market in China.
