Russian President Vladimir Putin gives an important speech on Victory Day

The celebration of Russia’s 77th Victory Day over Nazi Germany saw thousands of members of the armed forces parade on Red Square in front of the Kremlin in Moscow. According to the Kremlin, 11,000 people and 130 weapons and weapons participated in the parade.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in his speech hailed Victory Day as “a victory for the united Soviet Union”. Mr. Putin did not make any major announcements but focused on paying tribute to the millions of Russians who fell in World War II and praising the armed forces today.

Putin once again emphasized the reasons for conducting a special military operation in Ukraine. Putin has linked the military campaign in Ukraine to the historic victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in World War II.

“You are fighting for the Mother Earth, for the future, so that no one will forget the lessons of the Second World War.”

The Russian President’s speech blamed the West for causing the current conflict. Putin declared that conducting a military operation in Ukraine was the “only right decision” and a move to prevent aggression. The Russian president accused the West of leaving him with no choice but to launch a military operation in Ukraine.

“The West at that time was preparing to invade Russia. NATO had created tension on the border. They did not want to listen to Russia. They had other plans.”

The Russian President’s speech did not indicate the direction of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in the near future nor did it show the direction to push the war to a new height, although Putin mentioned the battlefield has referring to the Donbass region. Even so, Russian President Putin’s speech made it clear that Russia will not stop in its military campaign in Ukraine.

Before Russia celebrates Victory Day, there were predictions that Russian President Putin would announce a military escalation. However, Mr. Putin’s speech did not mention general mobilization or partial mobilization of soldiers.

Russian President Putin ended his brief speech with the slogan: “For Russia! For victory! Hooray!”.

All soldiers participating in the parade replied in unison, “Hooray!”
