Once they have this information, crooks can easily access your account and make purchases with e-wallets, bank cards or take money from your account.

In addition, the crooks also use emails with addresses similar to those of banking services and e-wallets and ask users to scan QR Codes to receive rewards. However, actually scanning the QR code is to link your e-wallet with the fraudster’s purchase account (Lazada, Tiki, Google…).

After successful linking, crooks can buy goods on e-commerce sites and pay with money in your account (no need to re-authenticate with password/OTP).

How to limit losing money?

– When you receive an OTP message, you need to check the message notification content (amount, transaction type, transaction execution channel…). In case the information does not match, the user absolutely does not enter the OTP on any screen, nor provide the OTP to anyone even if that person claims to be a bank employee.

– Do not scan QR Code of unknown origin or when you do not know the information.

– Do not lend or use e-wallet accounts or bank accounts to anyone.

– Do not share phone numbers, CCCD, photos, banking information, e-wallets… on social networking sites such as Facebook, TikTok…

– Do not share usernames and passwords through any form of communication, including SMS, Zalo, Messenger… or even the chat (chat) feature built into the applications. shopping.
