Lang Son heavy rain, one person died

In the past 12 hours, Bac Son district (Lang Son) recorded 260 mm of rain, making the whole district isolated, about 20 places flooded, landslides, one person died.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thieu, Chairman of Bac Son District People’s Committee said that the rain stopped early this morning, but at 10am, it rained heavily. Rising water has isolated all 18 communes of the district.

“We are mobilizing forces to move a number of households in low-lying areas, areas at risk of landslides to safe places. Communes are tasked with providing necessary necessities for people in deeply flooded areas. “, said Mr. Thieu.

In Tan Tri commune, soil and rock fell from a high hill into the house of 5 people in Khau Bao village, causing one woman’s death, the other four were lucky to escape.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that, due to the influence of strong humid east and southeast winds, most of the North recorded rain last night, with Lang Son the heaviest rain. The measuring point in Bac Son showed 216 mm of rain, 116 mm in Lang Son city, 72 and 58 mm in Dinh Lap and That Khe districts, respectively.

The meteorological agency forecasts that in the next 6 hours, the North will continue to rain with a common amount of 20-40 mm, in some places over 100 mm. Lang Son province has two districts with very high risk of landslides: Bac Son and Chi Lang; Bac Kan has two districts, Cho Moi and Cho Don.
