Polish police later on the scene dispersed the crowd and escorted the Russian diplomats to their cars and left without any injuries.

The Russian Foreign Ministry then expressed a strong objection, demanding that the Polish authorities immediately arrange another wreath-laying ceremony and ensure safety from any provocation.

Relations between Moscow and Warsaw, a NATO member, have been strained since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
