The panorama “Dien Bien Phu” is considered a breakthrough work and a miracle of Vietnamese fine art.

Panoramic picture Battle of Dien Bien Phu at Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum is a monumental and unique work of art painted with oil paints. The author of the work is Mr. Nguyen Van Mac and his associates spent more than 1,200 days, of which more than 500 days of sketching and more than 750 days of official drawing in Dien Bien. The layout of the work is circular, 132 m long, 20.5 m high, 42 m in diameter with a total area of 3,225 m², vividly reproducing more than 4,500 characters, the majestic Northwest mountain scenery combined with installation art section, exhibiting artifacts.

The picture consists of 4 scenes.
Stage 1 “All the people go to war”: is the image of carts carrying goods for the campaign; the image of hundreds of soldiers pulling artillery into the Dien Bien Phu front… is reproduced very vividly and honestly.
Stage 2 “The epic prelude”: with the highlight is the battle of Him Lam opening the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Winning the opening battle dealt a heavy blow to the morale of the French army and encouraged our soldiers to gain more strength and strengthen their faith in the next battles.
Stage 3 “Historical confrontation”: with images of trenches, barbed wire, hand-to-hand combat… reflecting the fierceness of the battlefield. End the scene with the image of a column of smoke from an explosive fruit in the A1 hill bed.
Episode 4 “Victory”: Contrasting with the image of the French army’s defeat is the image of our army rising to capture the Dien Bien Phu fortress group and the highlight is the Army’s “Determined to fight, determined to win” flag. The Vietnamese people flew over the roof of General De Castries’ bunker – Dien Bien Phu campaign was successful.
