Phan Minh Quy, a disabled man who “dared” to open a garment factory in the middle of the epidemic season to support and create jobs for many other people. His story has received much admiration in the Love Connection Program.

Formerly a person with mobility impairment, Phan Minh Quy (born in 1990) with strong will overcame difficulties and barriers of fate to become a garment factory owner, creating jobs for dozens of workers.

Born normally, but at 3 months old, a prolonged fever made Quy’s limbs unable to move normally. Although the family has sought treatment in many places, all have not had positive results. For the first 10 years of his life, he had to move around by crawling.

At the age of 10, Phan Minh Quy had surgery and physical therapy. After a long time of practice, by the age of 12, Quy could walk. With the will to rise up, the will to practice has helped the boy “just a wind can knock him down” every day he tried to practice to be able to go to school.

At the age of 19, Quy gave up his studies and fled his family to find a job, but to no avail. The feeling of disappointment, loneliness, and disappointment surrounded the young man when companies and factories refused to accept him.

Returning to his hometown, after many nights thinking about himself and his family situation, he decided to learn tailoring to suit his condition, then continued to apply for a job even though he was not paid as well as other healthy people. .

It is also from the difficulties and barriers that day by day that have molded Quy’s burning dream of opening a garment factory.

In 2020, Phan Minh Quy spent all of his savings plus extra loans to open a sewing factory. Although the decision of the garment factory to be opened in the context of the epidemic faced many difficulties, at one point 70% of employees were infected with covid and he himself was affected, but with his own efforts, Mr. has put the factory into stable operation, creating jobs for local people, including people with disabilities. They receive free vocational training, are employed with a stable income and above all are equipped with the confidence to be ready to integrate into the community.

Currently, Quy’s workshop has 8 workers, linked with 9 other garment factories for processing and production.
