Boxer Tran Thanh Hien defeated his Thai opponent after… 42 seconds

The focus of the SEA Games on May 10 took place at Hoai Duc Stadium, when the “gold mine” of the TTVN delegation was kurash. Compared to his colleagues competing this afternoon, kurish fighter Tran Thanh Hien is not a prominent name, but he made a strong impression when he had a shocking victory over his Thai opponent in the 81kg weight class. Specifically, Tran Thanh Hien only took 42 seconds to knock out the opponent and win tickets to the final.

However, unfortunately in the final, before teammate Minh Quang, who is more experienced and is the champion at SEA Games 30, Tran Thanh Hien lost easily.

The Vietnamese kurash team competed successfully today, winning all 4 gold medals. Thus, coach Nguyen Tuan Hoc and his team are only missing one more gold medal to reach the target set at this year’s SEA Games. At the 2019 Philippine congress, Vietnam ranked first in the entire kurash team with 7 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

Kurash at the 31st SEA Games competes in three days, at the gymnasium in Hoai Duc district, Hanoi. Tomorrow, the boxers will compete in the -60, -66kg men and +87kg women. The final competition day on May 13 is for the -73kg men, -57kg and -70kg women classes.

Kurash is a traditional martial art popular in Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan. Modern kurash began to be federated and organized international tournaments in the late 1990s. The technique and format of this sport have many similarities with Judo, but without the field of battle.
