Ho Chi Minh City stops taking exams for 10th grade in 2022, integrated English program

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stopped recruiting students for 10th grade of the integrated English program at Vo Thi Sau High School, Tran Hung Dao High School; Thu Duc High School; Nguyen Huu Cau High School.

The reason is that by 5:00 p.m. on May 9, the number of candidates who applied for the integrated English program at these 4 schools was too small to open classes according to the regulations of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

At Vo Thi Sau High School (Binh Thanh) the target for the integrated English program is 35 but only 19 students registered.

Meanwhile, Tran Hung Dao High School (Go Vap) according to the target of opening 2 classes of integrated English program with 70 students, but only 3 students registered.

Thu Duc High School according to the target of opening 1 integrated English program class with 35 students but only 2 students registered.

Similarly, at Nguyen Huu Cau High School, according to the target of opening 1 integrated English program class with 35 students, only 8 students registered.

According to the regulations, students enrolling in grade 10 of the integrated English program fall into one of two groups:

Group 1 is the students participating in the Middle School Integrated English Program in Ho Chi Minh City, who must meet the following conditions:

Students participating in the entrance exam to 10th grade high school in HCMC

Students register for 2 Integrative English Program aspirations (option 1 and option 2).

Based on the entrance exam scores for 10th grade high school and the average score of the Integrated English Program, these students will be prioritized for placement in schools that offer an integrated English program.

The way to calculate the admission score for the integrated English program is as follows: Admission score = Literature score + Foreign Language score + Math score + GPA of the Integrated English Program (on a 10-point scale).

Group 2 are students who do not participate in the Middle School Integrated English Program at THCM who must meet the following conditions:

Graduated from junior high school with the category of Good or above.

Students participated in the entrance exam for 10th grade high school in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the 3 prescribed subjects of Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Languages, students must register and take the integrated English exam.

Students register for 2 Integrative English Program aspirations (option 1 and option 2).

The way to calculate the admission score for the Integrated English Program is as follows: Admission score = Literature score + Foreign Language score + Math score + Integrated English test score (on a 10-point scale).

If the number of students who pass and submit the application is not enough 25 students or more, the integrated English class will not be opened at the school.
