Localities propose the need to inject 4 doses of COVID-19 vaccine before May 25

The Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Department of Health of the provinces and cities; Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute; Department of Health, Ministry of Public Security; Department of Military Medicine, General Department of Logistics, Ministry of National Defense and branch health on injections vaccines room COVID-19 2nd booster dose (shot 4).

The written request of the local Department of Health to propose the need for the 4th injection vaccine to the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute according to the management zoning before May 25.

The Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Pasteur Institute synthesize the results and send them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology before May 30 for the Institute to synthesize and propose the number of vaccines.

According to the Ministry of Health, the 4th injection group is people aged 50 years or older; people aged 18 years or older with moderate to severe immunodeficiency; people aged 18 and over are in high-risk groups for exposure to COVID-19 such as health workers, frontline officials, workers, and people working in industrial zones.

Vaccines used for injection are mRNA vaccines (vaccines manufactured by Pfizer or Moderna), vaccines manufactured by Astrazeneca, and vaccines of the same type as the 3rd dose (1st booster). The injection interval is at least 4 months after the 3rd dose (1st booster). People who have COVID-19 after receiving the 3rd dose, delay 3 months.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Health, as of May 4, the whole country has injected about 215 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, the basic dose coverage rate for people aged 18 and over is approximately 100%. Coverage rates for nose 1 and 2 for children aged 12-17 are 100% and 96.4%, respectively. The rate of 3rd dose injection (repeated dose) for people aged 18 years and over reached 57.5%. The coverage rate of nose 1 for children aged 5-11 years is 13.7%.
