Emery Wallerich, a yacht attendant in Florida, earns about $5,000 a month and has traveled to seven countries since doing this job.
“I first heard about yacht stewards when I was flying back home to Tacoma, Washington, in my senior year of college. A flight attendant on a superyacht was staying at my parents’ house and As soon as my mother heard of her work, my mother said, “Don’t tell my kids about this. It will immediately apply for the job right away,” Emery told Insiders.
Emery’s mother was not wrong, she learned the details from that head hostess. After graduating, she moved to Florida and began her career as a yacht attendant at the age of 22.
“My mother was worried that I would never come home to visit because of living on a boat in different countries. She made me promise that I would visit every few months and that she would visit me if my employer permission,” said the 22-year-old yacht hostess.
Currently, Emery is working in a private company that permanently owns a three-story, 141-meter yacht based in South Florida. This yacht often sails around the Caribbean Sea. She also worked on other yachts for 3 to 6 months.
She said: “I am the second flight attendant on the ship, working with the chief flight attendant and the third. Besides the chef, we schedule staff to take care of the interior of the yacht.”
While Emery can earn between $4,200 and $5,000 a month, her friend shared that captains can make $100,000 a year while some captains can make up to $360,000.
Emery is often on duty late and goes to bed when the guest’s family is asleep, usually around 1 or 2 a.m. There was also a chief officer, captain, sailor, captain and engineer on board.
TikTok videos about Emery’s dream life have amassed a large following – more than 337,000 currently. The young girl’s account also earns a small income.
She added: “If it sounds like a dream job, it is. My next stop is in the UK Virgin Islands.”
