According to operators, Sokhrankovka accounts for almost a third of Russian gas transported through Ukraine to Europe, amounting to 32.6 million cubic meters per day.

Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov said that the corporation has not received a confirmed report of a case of force majeure or interruption of operations in Sokhranovka or Novopskov on May 10. Kupriyanov added that Ukrainian experts had full access to both facilities and had not previously had any complaints about this.

Although the OGTSU has proposed re-adjusting the gas pipeline to Sudzha, a connection point located in the Sumy region and controlled by the Ukrainian government, Kupriyanov insists this is “technologically impossible”.

“The distribution of gas volumes was clearly stated in the cooperation agreement dated December 30, 2019, and the Ukrainian side is also aware of this,” noted Mr. Kupriyanov. The spokesman stressed that Gazprom is completing it. all its obligations to European customers, for which all transportation services conform to the terms of the contract and are paid in full.

The Russian side continues to supply gas to Europe, including transit through Ukraine, regardless of Moscow’s military offensive campaign ongoing and anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the US and its allies in the European Union (EU).
