Regarding the second booster dose (dose 4) of COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health said that the subjects of the injection are people aged 50 years or older; People 18 years of age and older with moderate to severe immunodeficiency; People aged 18 and over are in the high-risk group for exposure to COVID-19: health workers, frontline officials, workers, people working in industrial zones.

The vaccine used for injection is an mRNA vaccine (a vaccine manufactured by Pfizer or Moderna); Vaccines manufactured by Astrazeneca; Vaccine of the same type as the 3rd dose (1st booster);

The Ministry of Health requested the local Departments of Health to advise the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to decide on the subjects to be injected in accordance with the actual situation and requirements for epidemic prevention and control in the locality, develop a plan and prepare necessary conditions to deploy the 4th dose injection based on the vaccine supply progress.

The local Departments of Health propose the need for the 4th dose vaccine to the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute according to the management zoning before May 25, 2022.

The Ministry of Health requested the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institute to send it to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology before May 30, 2022 to synthesize and propose the number of vaccines.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health assigned the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Pasteur Institute to provide guidance and technical support to localities in organizing and implementing vaccination.
