On the evening of May 10, To Thi Trang won a gold medal in the 48kg class Kurash at the SEA Games. This is also the opening medal for the “golden rain” of Vietnamese sports. However, not long after this memorable milestone, the 23-year-old female athlete had to receive sad news. Her father just passed away.

Yesterday, the team’s coach also shared that Trang’s family members were in the hospital. However, she still competed well to win gold in her first time attending the convention. To Thi Trang was born in Dong Anh, Hanoi and has been practicing Kurash for many years. In 2013, she made a splash when she won silver at the Asian Championships.
