Chinese plane crashes off runway and catches fire
A Tibet Airlines passenger plane veered off the runway and caught fire at Chongqing airport this morning, injuring several people.
“A flight departing from Chongqing to the Tibetan capital Lhasa veered off the runway and caught fire at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport,” Chinese broadcaster CCTV said.
According to the official statement of Tibet Airlines, the crew noticed “abnormalities” during take-off and canceled the take-off. The plane then diverted from the runway.

“All 113 passengers and nine crew members were evacuated, some suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment,” the statement said, without specifying how many were injured. .
