Chinese plane skidded off runway, caught fire
An airplane in the city of Chongqing, Chinaskidded off the runway during takeoff, resulting in a massive fire.
Trouble with Chinese plane occurred in Chongqing on the morning of May 12, causing a fire with a high column of smoke. The airport closed one of the runways at 0:54 a.m. GMT (ie 7:54 a.m. Vietnam time), according to the airport’s announcement. The runway is expected to reopen at 4:00, GMT (11:00, Vietnam time).

China’s Tibet Airlines said all passengers and crew had been evacuated from an Airbus A319 plane. There were 113 passengers and 9 crew members on board all safe, some with minor injuries.
Video on social media showed a plane belonging to Tibet Airlines, a subsidiary of Air China, with thick smoke and flames coming from the left side of the plane.
The Chinese aircraft in the latest aviation incident is an A319 that has been in service for 9 years. This is one of the smallest versions of the A320 family, powered by CFM56 engines from CFM International – a joint venture between General Electric and Safran, according to Airfleets.net.
Tibet Airlines is an airline based in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region. The airline has a fleet of 39 aircraft, including 28 A319 aircraft.
