The ministers agreed with the schedule set out for the above activities, and emphasized the meaning of this special ASEAN-US Summit to build a good and mutually beneficial relationship between ASEAN and the US. .

The countries agreed that the outcome of the meeting would also be an expression of ASEAN solidarity and unity in relations with partners.

At the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son announced that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh would attend activities within this special high-level framework; Vietnam will coordinate with ASEAN countries to contribute to the success of the ASEAN-US Special Summit.

Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that “staying ASEAN solidarity and unity, promoting the central role, upholding the principled stance and common voice of ASEAN, maintaining ASEAN’s balanced approach in relations with partners and promote substantive, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation” are contents that need to be further affirmed by ASEAN.

In the afternoon of the same day, senior officials (SOMs) of ASEAN and the United States held a final meeting to review and agree on the agenda and documents of the ASEAN-US Special Summit.
