How is half a million USD in Vietnam’s support for Ukraine allocated?
On the afternoon of May 12, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Spokesperson Doan Khac Viet informed about Vietnam’s support of 500,000 USD for Ukraine.
The deputy spokesman emphasized, “Vietnam shares the international community’s deep concern about the humanitarian situation caused by the Recent developments in Ukraineand considers it necessary to immediately end the use of force, ensure the security and safety of civilians, protect critical infrastructure, respect and enforce international humanitarian law, and facilitate access to humanitarian aid and evacuation for expatriate communities in Ukraine, including the Vietnamese community”.

Vietnam supports humanitarian activities of other countries, the United Nations and international partners to support people affected by the war in Ukraine.
With that spirit, responding to the call of the United Nations, Vietnam decided to contribute USD 500,000, of which USD 100,000 will go to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), USD 100,000 to the World Health Organization World Health Organization (WHO), 100,000 USD to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and 200,000 USD through the Vietnam Red Cross to the Ukrainian Red Cross, contributing to the implementation of humanitarian relief activities, supporting people affected by the Ukraine conflict.
Earlier in Press conference of the two Prime Ministers of Vietnam – Japan took place earlier this month, the two sides affirmed to respect basic principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, especially the principles of respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; legitimate rights and interests of other countries; not threaten or use force in international relations; Calling on the parties to persistently promote dialogue and negotiation to find a lasting peaceful solution.
Vietnam has expressed a comprehensive view on humanitarian issues in Ukraine; willing to make active contributions to humanitarian relief operations, diplomatic processes, dialogue and negotiations.
In that spirit, Vietnam will provide humanitarian assistance of USD 500,000 to Ukraine through international humanitarian organizations.
