iOS closes the gap with Android thanks to iPhone

Unlike the rest of the manufacturers, with the “exception” of Huawei and Harmony OS, Iphone is the only device globally running iOS available only in the mid-range and high-end segments. Even so, Apple was able to pass the mark and achieve what a few years ago seemed impossible: a 25% market share in the mobile operating system segment.

According to a StockApps report, Android has lost 8% of the market in 5 years, from 77.32% dominance in July 2018 to 69.74% in January 2022. During that same period, Apple went from 19.4% to 25.49% market share.

“The loss of Android market share is due to increased competition in the operating system market,” said Edith Reads, chief financial officer at StockApps. The StockApp analyst does not believe that Android’s dominance can be affected. “The open source nature and affordable price of Android devices have made it popular with the masses around the world. Google has created an impenetrable void and it’s hard for Apple and other companies to do so. the rest can reverse the position of the Android platform”.
