Celebrating the 31st SEA Games hosted by Vietnam, designer Hoang Ly launched and performed the ASEAN National Flower Ao Dai collection on the streets of Hanoi to promote the image of Ao Dai to the world in combination with cultural exchanges.
Designer Hoang Ly said that each country has its own traditional culture and beliefs. Like the national flag, the national flower is a typical cultural symbol of each country.So for designers, exploiting the characteristic element is the national flower dress Vietnam’s traditions are an effective way of promoting, thereby contributing to cultural exchanges in ASEAN countries.According to designer Hoang Ly, the most difficult thing is how to “catch” the right color of the national flower, then the image of the national flower when put on the fabric must be clearly depicted, keeping their traditional colors.Along with that, the layout and placement of flowers are so harmonious that when they are worn they are not “showy”, offensive because this is the image of their country, must be calculated very carefully and carefully.And to do that, she chose silk, 3D inkjet printing combined with handmade beading to make the national flower stand out on the shirt.In addition, in order to easily identify each country’s characteristics, designer Hoang Ly combined with imprinted images of typical architecture and famous landscapes of ASEAN countries.With the “National Flower” collection of Vietnam, designer Hoang Ly performed many different styles.“The lotus flower with its preeminent characteristics of flavor, intense vitality, bearing many cultural symbols and the character of Vietnamese people, gives me a lot of special inspiration,” said designer Hoang Ly.“I have always wanted to bring cultural beauty and preserve the historical values left by my forefathers into each design. For me, although fashion always changes from time to time, I pay special attention to and preserve tradition. Fashion creates value for the wearer, so it is not only a garment but also a work of art. So each of my Ao Dai is a historical and cultural story of the nation,” said designer Hoang Ly.
