Sentenced to death for murdering grocery store owner
Ho Chi Minh CityDinh Thanh Binh, 33, was put on trial after more than a year of breaking into, killing, raping the owner of a grocery store and then robbing her property.
On May 12, Binh, a native of Dong Nai, was sentenced to death by the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City for the crime WOODmurder; 8 years in prison OLDembalming property and 5 years of crime Hrape. In summary, the defendant must serve the general penalty of death. The court ordered Binh to pay nearly 300 million VND to the victim’s family.
According to the trial panel, the accused committed many crimes at the same time, causing particularly serious consequences, so severe punishment should be applied.

According to the indictment, Binh lived in many places. Late at night on March 14, 2021, this person visited Duong’s and her husband’s grocery store in Tan Phu district, invited her husband to drink beer but was refused.
Binh drank wine alone until dawn the next morning. Recalling being rejected by the grocery store owner, he thought he was despised, so he returned to steal the property to take revenge.
Climbing the wall inside, Binh was searching when Mrs. Duong woke up and discovered. He immediately covered his mouth, strangled the homeowner and then grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim to death. The perpetrator raped the victim, rummaged through more than 400 scratch cards, nearly 4 million VND and then escaped.
The victim’s husband slept in another place, only to find out the next morning. On the evening of the same day, Binh was arrested by the police at the foot of a bridge in District 12.
