The killer got caught in the net after more than 12 years on the run
After nearly 12 years of committing the crime, the person participating in the murder group was arrested under a wanted warrant. At this time, he was able to get married and have children.
On May 12, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City sentenced defendant Ngo Thanh Nhat (31 years old, living in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City) to 8 years in prison for “murder”. The defendant’s offense occurred nearly 12 years ago.
According to the prosecution, around 9 pm on October 28, 2010, after drinking with a group of friends on Rocket Street, Binh Tan District, Mr. Duong Van Vinh Canh drove home. When going to the Rada residence (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City), he collided with Nguyen Quang Ngoc’s motorbike, causing minor damage to both cars.
After that, the two sides quarreled, argued and fought. Ngoc called a friend to beat him, and he also called his colleagues to welcome the battle. When being attacked by Canh’s group, Ngoc’s group ran away. After that, Ngoc’s group prepared knives, machetes… and invited Ngo Thanh Nhat to participate.
At 0:15 on October 29, 2010, Ngoc’s group went to look for an opponent when they saw Canh’s group playing at warehouse 12 on Dang Nguyen Can street (District 6), Ngoc and his accomplices, stopped the car to chase. Due to tripping, Mr. Canh was stabbed and killed by this group.
Although he did not directly participate in the killing of Mr. Canh, Nhat also enthusiastically took up weapons to pursue Canh’s friends.
After committing the crime, Ngoc’s group was arrested in turn, but Ngo Thanh Nhat had escaped from the locality, so the police issued a wanted decision.
When he was wanted, Nhat escaped to Xuan Phu commune, Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province to work as a hired hand, get married and have children.
However, more than 10 years later, on March 23, 2021, he was arrested by the police of Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province.
At the trial, the Japanese defendant sincerely confessed to the crime as charged.
Considering that the defendant’s behavior caused social disorder and adversely affected security and order, after considering it, the trial panel sentenced the defendant to the above sentence.
