The serial robbers of gold shops in Thu Duc City were arrested

On the afternoon of May 11, the police of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City said that they are temporarily holding Nguyen Khac Huy (SN 1980, living in District 6) to investigate the act of robbery.

Recently, Thu Duc City Police received many reports about the occurrence of a number of gold shop robberies in the area. When the police were investigating, they received a report from Mr. Huynh Duy K. (SN 1994, from Ca Mau) is an employee of KL gold shop on Street 7, Phuoc Binh ward, Thu Duc city) about the gold shop. KL was robbed.

According to Mr. K., around 2:50 p.m. on May 4, he was looking after a gold shop when a young man driving a Honda AirBlade motorcycle came to the shop to ask to buy a gold chain. Then this person said Mr. K. took 2 24k gold chains to see. True thought, Mr. K. took the gold chain for the customer to check. Taking advantage of the time when Mr. K. was not paying attention, the subject took 2 gold chains and ran out and then climbed on a motorbike to escape.

Huy often carries boxes when he goes to gold shops to carry out the robbery

The owner of the gold shop is Ms. LTL (SN 1978, living in Phuoc Binh ward) said that 2 24k gold chains with a weight of 4 taels, worth about 200 million dong.

After receiving the information, the Thu Duc City Police extracted the cameras of the routes to track down the perpetrators. Through monitoring, the police discovered that after committing the robbery, the subject escaped through many roads in Phuoc Binh ward, then went to Do Xuan Hop street and ran into Nam Long residential area. Next, the subject changed clothes to distract the police and then calmly drove a motorbike on the road.

On the night of May 10, the police went to the suspect’s residence on Road 5, residential area in Indochina, Phu Huu ward, Thu Duc city, arrested the subject and brought him to the headquarters to take statements for investigation. At the police station, the subject named Nguyen Khac Huy.

Huy claimed that he had a house in District 6 before, but later sold and bought a house in Phu Huu ward, Thu Duc city to live with his wife and 3 children. Huy planned to rob a gold shop to earn money to spend. Huy’s trick was when he robbed and carried a box of goods to distract him and chose an empty gold shop to take action.

Through the struggle, the police also determined that Huy not only carried out the robbery at the KL gold shop but also carried out many other similar missions. Specifically, on March 1, Huy robbed 1.2 taels of gold from a gold shop in Long Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city. About 2 years ago, Huy also robbed 2 taels of gold from a gold shop on Nguyen Duy Trinh street, Binh Trung Dong ward, Thu Duc city.

Thu Duc City police said that it is likely that the subject has committed many other gold shop robberies but has not sincerely confessed.
