The Vietnamese women’s team received a hot bonus of 700 million dong after defeating the Philippines

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) decided to reward the girls of the Vietnam women’s football team with an amount of VND 500 million after a 2-1 reverse victory over the Philippines. In addition, Quang Ninh province also awarded 200 million VND to the women’s team after the first victory at the 31st SEA Games. In total, captain Huynh Nhu and his teammates were awarded 700 million VND after the victory against the Philippines.

The Vietnamese women’s team and the Philippines team are two Southeast Asian teams that won tickets to the World Cup earlier this year. Both teams are strong candidates for this year’s 31st SEA Games gold medal. Therefore, although it is the opening match of the Vietnamese women’s team, the match has the same meaning as the “early final” in Group A.

The Vietnamese women’s team did not enter well and was conceded by the Philippines in the 15th minute. After the goal, the Philippines women’s team could not maintain the dominant position and gradually retreated to defence. On the contrary, the Vietnamese women’s team plays better. Two goals from Tuyet Dung (38 minutes) and Thuy Trang (50 minutes) helped the Vietnamese women’s team upstream to win 2-1.

Three important points in the opening match helped the Vietnamese women’s team almost firmly hold the top of Group A, because in the last round, they only met Cambodia. Because the Indonesian women’s team dropped out of the tournament, there are only 3 teams in Group A in women’s football: Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. The Philippines completed the group stage campaign with a 5-0 victory over Cambodia and a 1-2 loss to Vietnam.

If they win against Cambodia in the last match, the Vietnamese women’s team will win the group. This is the goal within reach of coach Mai Duc Chung’s team when the Cambodian women’s team is not appreciated. The Vietnamese women’s team will play the last match against Cambodia at 19:00 on May 14.

At the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese women’s team aims to defend the gold medal won at the 2019 congress. Experts say this is a goal within the capabilities of the Vietnamese women’s team.
