According to the indictment, around mid-October 2021, Hong lived as husband and wife with Nguyen Thi My and two American stepchildren, baby K. (born on April 5, 2021) and baby D. (4 years old).

On the morning of October 30, 2021, Hong carried baby K. to the bathroom to clean and fell, causing the baby’s left arm to be broken. But Hong did not let the US take him to the hospital for treatment, but only applied oil and bandaged K’s arm.

At about 9:30 p.m. on November 2, 2021, Hong, My, and Tran Dien (Hong’s friend) used drugs together at the American house. Then, Hong asked her to find a place to charge her phone because there was no electricity at home.

When America was gone for about 2 minutes, baby K. cried. Hong was angry, so she went to hold a water bottle (a 250ml baby bottle) and poured water into her mouth, causing the baby to choke, leading to asphyxiation.

Seeing this, Dien ran to intervene, then went to ask My to go home. After that, Hong used lemon juice to squeeze K.’s mouth and lied to America that the baby had a convulsion.

When America returned, she saw that she was no longer breathing, her heart rate was weak, so she took the nebulizer pill and put it in a bowl of warm water and then held K. together to warm it up. But the girl was dead, so America hugged her and slept with her.

On the morning of November 3, 2021, Hong and Dien returned home to find out that K. was dead, so Hong asked her to find a place to cremate, but the US disagreed. Around 2 a.m. the next morning, Hong asked her to put baby K.’s body in a black backpack, bring it to be buried at the embankment area of ​​30/4 Park in Chau Quoi 3 cluster, Chau Phu B ward, Chau Doc city.

After the funeral, Hong often threatened to kill America and America’s remaining child. At the same time, he also used hammers and sticks to beat the US so that the US did not dare to report.

Taking advantage of Hong’s loopholes, the US went to the police station to denounce Hong’s crimes.

At the end of the trial, the trial panel sentenced defendant Hong to life in prison for the crime of “murder” and one year in prison for the crime of “intentionally causing injury”.
