Passive usage of present simple and present continuous

If the subject of an active sentence is a personal person and a common noun, when changing to a passive sentence, there is no need to by + O (taken from S in the active sentence).

Passive sentences in simple present tense: Am/is/are + Vp2

Passive sentences in the present continuous: Am/is /are being + Vp2

* V-ing: Verbs ending in ing/Vp2: Participle verbs

* S: Subject/O: Object

* If the S of the active sentences is the personal person I, you, we, they, she, he, it and the common noun: person, people, everyone, when changing to the passive sentence do not need by + O (take it). from S active sentences).

Simple tense

Affirmations:

S + V + O.

=> S (which is O for active sentences) + am/is/are + Vp2…. + by O (which is S for active sentences.)

Eg: She (S) writes (DRAW) an essay (O) everyday to practice for the exam.

=> An essay is written everyday to practice for the exam.

Negative sentence:

S + don’t / doesn’t V+ O.

=> S (which is the O of the active sentence) + am not /isn’t /aren’t Vp2… + by O (which is the S of the active sentence).

Eg: The girls (S) don’t buy (don’t draw) newspaper (O) in the morning.

=> Newspaper isn’t bought by the girls in the morning.

Question:

Do/ Does + S + V + O…?

=> Am/ Is / Are + S (which is the O of the active sentence) + Vp2… by O (which is the S of the active sentence)?

Eg: Does (Does) My (S) sell (DRAW) pictures (O) that she draws?

=> Are pictures that she draws sold by My?

Present continous

Affirmations:

S + am/ is /are + V-ing+ O.

=> S (which is O for active sentences) + am / is /are + being Vp2 … by O (which is S for active sentences).

Eg: She (S) is making (is V-ing) coffee (O) for family in the morning.

=> Coffee is being made for family in the morning.

Negative sentence:

S + am not /isn’t /aren’t + V-ing + O.

=> S (which is the O of the active sentence) + am not /isn’t/aren’t + being Vp2…by O (which is the S of the active sentence).

Eg: The man (S) isn’t painting (isn’t V-ing) the walls (O) now.

=> The walls aren’t being painted now.

Question:

Am / Is / Are + S + V-ing + O…?

=> Am/ Is/Are + S (which is the O of the active sentence) + being Vp2… by O (which is the S of the active sentence)?

Eg: Are (Are) they (S) preparing (V-ing) for the party at the moment (O)?

=> Is the party being prepared at the moment?
