On May 13, the People’s Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance trial for two defendants Giang Seo Hoa (SN 1989) and Vang Seo Su (SN 1996), residing in Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province on the charge of “Transportation” illegal drugs”.

According to the indictment of the People’s Procuracy of Nghe An province, on the morning of January 17, 2021, Giang Seo Hoa accepted an invitation to go to Nghe An to transport “goods” to Lao Cai for 500 million VND. After that, Hoa called Vang Seo Su to say that if he accepted to go to Nghe An to bring drugs back, Hoa would give 450 million VND from the other amount, and then Su agreed.

Two days later, Hoa gave Su 30 million VND to rent a car to Nghe An. In the evening of January 21, 2021, Su arrived at the Thanh Thuy border gate area (Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An) to receive 6 “goods” backpacks.

This man drove the car back, when he arrived in Ngoc Lam commune (Thanh Chuong district), he was discovered and caught by police forces. Examining 6 backpacks seized in Su’s car, the authorities determined that this was methamphetamine, weighing more than 111 kg.

At the trial, based on the testimonies and self-reports during the investigation as well as the public questioning and debate at the trial, the trial panel found that the People’s Procuracy of Nghe An province prosecuted the two defendants. After consideration, the People’s Court of Nghe An province sentenced two defendants Giang Seo Hoa and Vang Seo Su to death.
