Saving parents and children trapped in a burning house
Ho Chi Minh CityA fire broke out on the ground floor of a house in Hoc Mon district, causing parents and children to be trapped first, being rescued by police on the morning of May 13.
At around 4:30 a.m., fire broke out from the ground floor of a 40-square-meter fourth-floor house in Ba Diem commune. At this time, Ms. Duong Thi Thuy An, 32 years old, and her two daughters 4-12 years old are sleeping on the first floor. The fire entered the motorbike and many items covered the way down, leaving the parents and children with no way out.
Four fire engines and 19 soldiers arrived at the scene. Firefighters wearing protective gear flared crowbars, force-sprung pliers broke open the door and pulled a water cannon to put out the fire before rescuing the three people. The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. Many belongings were burned, motorbikes were on fire on the ground floor.
The cause is under investigation.
