Explosion at a chemical plant in Slovenia, 11 people were injured

The explosion happened on May 12 at the Melanin factory in the town of Kocevje, which produces chemicals used for paints, rubber and many other industrial products.

Police found the bodies of five people missing after the explosion. The sixth person died from multiple injuries and five others are in critical condition.

The fire brigade quickly put out the fire and the army decontaminated the surrounding area.

An investigation is underway. Melanin general manager Srecko Stefanic told local media that the explosion was most likely caused by human negligence.

Melanmin is a joint venture between the German group TITK and the Melamin dd company based in Kocevje.
