On the occasion of attending the ASEAN-US Special Summit, visiting and working in the US and the United Nations, on the morning of May 14 (local time), in the US capital, Washington DC, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meeting with officials and employees of the Embassy and representative agencies directly under the Embassy; community representatives Vietnamese people on the East Coast of the United States.

The Prime Minister suggested that the Embassy, ​​with the role of representing the country in the US and representative agencies, according to their functions and tasks, continue to well implement the foreign policy line in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress. independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development; Vietnam is a friend, responsible and reliable partner in the international community; at the same time, join hands to cultivate the friendship between Vietnam and the US to more and more flowers and fruits, beneficial to the two peoples and for peace, cooperation and development in the world.

Meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the US East CoastPrime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed sympathy and shared with compatriots when living far away from home, far from the country, and respectfully thanked the overseas Vietnamese for their contribution to the country and contributed to fostering the relationship between Vietnam – America.

According to the Prime Minister, the Party and the State always affirmed that overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of the Vietnamese ethnic community; always create conditions to consolidate the great national unity bloc and help the compatriots have a solid legal position, stabilize their lives in the host country and make active contributions to the nation’s construction.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that according to statistics, there are currently about 5.3 million Vietnamese living abroad. In which, the Vietnamese community in the US accounts for the largest with 2.2 million people and is diverse and rich in occupations and ages. In particular, the team of intellectuals and businessmen is very large, many people participate and contribute in the government and culture of the US.

According to the Prime Minister, the Vietnamese community in the US plays the role of a bridge in the relationship between Vietnam and the US; contribute to the implementation of agreements between the two countries; contribute to the development of both Vietnam and the United States.
