Three students in Hanoi drowned

Three 3rd graders invited each other to take a bath in a dam in the middle of a field in Dong Thai commune (Ba Vi district, Hanoi) when they drowned on the afternoon of May 13.

According to Dong Thai Commune People’s Committee, the group of students often go to the dam to bathe every afternoon with the villagers. Yesterday, due to the end of the exam in the morning, the children had a break in the afternoon, so they invited each other to take a shower earlier, about 13:30 to 14:00.

“The dam is having water coming back, so the deepest place is more than 2 meters. The children bathed at the right time, so no one could save them,” said the leader of Dong Thai commune, and said the authorities had put up a warning sign prohibiting bathing in the area. this area before.

After the incident, the authorities of Ba Vi district, Dong Thai commune came to visit and support the three families. Ba Vi district also requires communes and schools to strengthen warning about drowning risk to parents and students.

From mid-April until now, when the Covid-19 epidemic subsided, the weather turned hot and sunny, many children went to the river, swimming pool and had accidents. On the afternoon of April 3, 4 students at Hoa Hiep Secondary School (Hoa Hiep Commune, Xuyen Moc District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau) drowned in Suoi Cac irrigation lake. On the afternoon of April 4, 5 students from Thieu Duy commune (Thieu Hoa, Thanh Hoa) invited each other to the Moc Khe river spillway to play and also drowned.
