Before that, around 2:50 p.m. on May 9, 4 young men were drinking at Ba Dung pub (Cam Chau ward), when Tran Xuan Vu grabbed a sword from the street and burst into the restaurant, slashing at his body. by Nguyen Van Hung (residing in Cam An ward) caused Hung to break the middle finger of his right hand.
After cutting, Vu ran away to Ly Thai To Street, a group of young people chased him to the front of the Cultural Institution of Truong Le Street (in Cam Chau Ward), and was shot by Vu holding a homemade gun about 1m long. 2 bullets caused Mr. Pham Nguyen Van Hiep (resident in Cam An ward) with multiple injuries to the face, neck, back, and knees.

After committing the crime, Vu drove a branded motorbike with Ly Hau Hieu (SN 2001, living in Cam Pho ward, Hoi An city) to escape. On the afternoon of May 11, Hieu presented himself at the police station.
