Writer Le Phuong died at 20:44 on the evening of May 14, at the age of 89. Screenwriter Trinh Thanh Nha, his life partner, uttered two painful words “Brother” on his personal Facebook page. He is not only a life partner but also a teacher and colleague of screenwriter Trinh Thanh Nha for decades.

He is known through many famous novels and scripts, including Saigon Rangers. Before co-writing 4 episodes of Saigon Rangers with Nguyen Thanh, he wrote many movie scripts such as The Meeting Place of Love, The Untitled Club, and The Sea Tornado.

Real name is Nguyen Van Tien, born in 1933 in Dong Anh (Hanoi), he joined the army at the age of 16. He used to work as a special agent in the Political Protection Department (Ministry of National Defense). It was these experiences that led him to a fairly early career in writing and journalism, with works such as the memoir Test of Fire, the novel Indomitable.

He published many novels between 1965 and about 1978: Fort 44, Cotan Valley, Eucalyptus, The Crossroads, Cold Apricot, Trail Chains.
