Bibi Jawindi died in 1403. Almost a century later, in 1493, Prince Dilshad of Iran built a mausoleum in her memory.

The mausoleum is built of baked bricks on an octagonal base with turrets at each corner of the octagon. A single dome is raised above a smaller octagonal drum with windows. The exterior of the building has three floors with the top floor supporting the dome, while the inside is circular due to thick, angled walls rising two stories high. Both the inside and outside of the building are richly decorated with Islamic scriptures, carved wood, and bright blue mosaic tiles and white glaze.

Over the centuries, time has destroyed more or less the beauty of this architecture. Half of them have collapsed and are only a pile of broken bricks. The other half has been raised, but the risk is still present because of harsh environments such as deserts, humidity and salt intrusion. Furthermore, inappropriate repair methods have further damaged the complex.

The site also includes other mausoleums, most notably the Temple of Baha’al-Halim, and the Tomb of Ustead, the architect who designed Bibi Jawindi’s Tomb.

The entire complex has been submitted for UNESCO World Heritage status, but since 2004 it has remained only on the waiting list.
