South Korea offers to send COVID-19 vaccine to support North Korea

President Yoon Suk-yeol plans to provide the North Korean people with vaccines and other medical supplies. South Korea will hold discussions with the North Korean side about details.

North Korea’s state news agency KCNA earlier reported that the country had recorded 350,000 cases of fever symptoms since the end of April and confirmed six people had died, of which one was infected with the Omicron variant.

The World Health Organization late last year announced the shipment of essential medical supplies to prevent COVID-19 for the purpose of strategic reserve to North Korea through Dalian port in China. However, North Korea has repeatedly rejected proposals for vaccine aid from the WHO, China and Russia.
