The pagoda in Thanh Hoa is degraded, the monks gather in the back temporarily

In 1998, the Department of Culture and Information of Thanh Hoa issued Decision No. 108 on the protection, embellishment and promotion of the effects of the Chua – Cung Temple cultural historical relic, Vinh Hung commune, Vinh Loc district.

According to the divine genealogy still preserved at Linh Quang pagoda (Cong pagoda), during the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong (1054-1072), the king and his wife went with the queen to the mountain territory of Khu Cuong Trang, Phuc Lam, Vinh Phuc district, Thieu Thien palace, town. Thanh Hoa (this is village 3, Vinh Hung commune, Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa).

Seeing that this land is a beautiful and magical landscape, there is a temple with the words “Dark Linh Tu” which means sacred temple, King Ly Thanh Tong and the queen performed a prayer ceremony and then went to Linh Quang pagoda to burn incense. Guan Yin Buddha is a good omen. Later, the queen gave birth to a prince Ly Nhan Tong (1072-1128).

Since then, the queen often returned to visit and repair the sacred temple. One morning on a tour in Trang Phuc Lam, the queen died right at the temple. After that, this place was built another temple named “Cao Son – Hoang Ba Linh Vi” (also known as Cong temple).

Over time along with historical events, the relic complex has become ruins with only the old foundation remaining.

In 2000, Linh Quang pagoda was restored on an area of ​​​​nearly 1,000 square meters. The pagoda is designed according to the Vietnamese pagoda model, with wooden architecture, the roof of the pagoda is covered with yin and yang tiles, the pagoda is 3 compartments wide.

Currently, at the temple, there are still 9 ancient statues of the Le Dynasty. These statues are all made of wood, with almost the same size (47cm wide, 70cm high).

In 2012, the local government restored Cao Son Temple – Hoang Ba Linh Vi.

Mr. Pham Van Chung, Vice Chairman of Vinh Hung Commune People’s Committee admitted that Linh Quang Pagoda is in very serious deterioration. Currently, the roof tile is dilapidated, the wall is cracked, the rain water flows into the altars.

“The commune does not have money to repair. Master Thuy Nghiem, the head priest of the temple who has only been back for 2 years, has no place to live, so he had to build a temporary corrugated iron tent at the back of the temple, to look at the teacher and feel pity,” said Mr. Chung.
