Thinking of being despised, the man kills and rapes your wife for revenge

On May 12, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City opened a first-instance trial against defendant Dinh Thanh Binh (33 years old, living in Cam My district, Dong Nai province) for the crimes of “murder”, “robbery” and ” rape”.

According to the prosecution, around 10 pm on March 14, 2021, after eating and drinking, Binh stopped at the grocery store of Mr. Mai Tam and Mrs. Duong Thi Hai in Tay Thanh ward (Tan Phu district) to invite Mr. Tam to drink beer. continued but was refused.

After that, Binh sat at a snail shop near Mr. Tam’s house drinking alone. After drinking about 10 cans of beer, at about 2:00 am on March 15, 2021, he was upset that Mr. Tam looked down on him, so Binh decided to climb the wall into Mr. Tam’s house to steal to take revenge.

While searching for things near Mrs. Hai’s bedroom, when he heard the door open, he immediately rushed in to control Ms. Hai, covering her mouth with one hand and strangling the owner with the other hand. Seeing the knife under Mrs. Hai’s knee, Binh grabbed and stabbed the victim’s face, arms and legs repeatedly until the handle broke before stopping.

Seeing Mrs. Hai lying motionless, wearing a nightgown, Binh became aggressive and raped the victim. After being satisfied, he rummaged through and took away 403 scratch cards and nearly 4 million cash, then took a motorbike taxi to escape and sleep at the foot of Tan Thoi Hiep bridge, district 12.

At 6 a.m. on the same day, Mr. Tam woke up to open the shop and found that the scratch card number and cash had disappeared, so he ran into Mrs. Hai’s bedroom to check. Seeing Mrs. Hai lying motionless, Mr. Tam helped his wife to get up and discovered that Ms. Hai was dead, so he went to the police station to report.

At 19:40 on the same day, the perpetrator was caught in the police’s net.

Conclusion of the autopsy, the cause of death of Mrs. Hai was due to irreversible blood loss.

At the police station and at the trial, defendant Binh admitted to committing the offence.

At the trial, Mr. Tam asked the defendant to pay damages of 1 billion VND. However, after listening to the chair’s analysis, according to the regulations, mental compensation is 100 months’ minimum salary, equivalent to 149 million VND. Compensation for funerals will be based on invoices and vouchers. After listening to the analysis, Mr. Tam agreed to ask the defendant to compensate the family a total of 299 million VND.

After deliberation, the jury decided to sentence Binh to death for “murder”, 8 years in prison for “robbery”, and 5 years for “rape”. The total penalty for all three crimes is death.
