Vietnamese basketball makes history in 3×3 SEA Games content 31

In 2 days, May 13 & 14, at Thanh Tri Gymnasium, Hanoi, the 3×3 content of basketball took place. Both of these events have the participation of 7 men’s and 7 women’s teams. Teams play round robin 1 turn, choose 4 teams with the best results to compete for medals.

In the men’s content, the Vietnamese team made a big surprise when they took the lead after the group stage with 6 victories and 1 defeat. Among the teams that had to accept defeat against the Vietnamese team were big names like the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

In the women’s content, the Vietnamese team has 4 wins and 2 losses. In the 4 victories that the host girls won, notably, there was a 21-18 victory over the Philippines team. This is the first time Vietnamese basketball has surpassed Philippine basketball in a SEA Games.

In the semi-finals, the two Vietnamese men’s and women’s teams must meet Indonesia’s men’s and women’s teams. While the Vietnamese girls won 19-16, the men’s team overcame the opponent with a 21-15 victory, thereby advancing to the final for the first time.

In the two finals, Vietnamese basketball competed against Thai basketball. The host girls received an unfortunate defeat at the last second against the Thai women’s team with a score of 21-19, and the men’s team also let the opponent pass 19-17 in extra time.

Although it was not possible to get a gold medal, Vietnamese basketball also made history when there were 2 representatives present in the final. Compared to the success 3 years ago in the Philippines, it is clear that Vietnamese basketball has reached its peak and promises to have even greater successes in the future. From May 16-22, basketball will continue to take place 5-5 content, with many exciting developments ahead.
