Arrest the subject of lending money to the poor with exorbitant interest rates
On the morning of May 16, the Hue City Police said that it had just decided to temporarily hold a criminal for Le Thien Vu (26 years old, residing in Tan Phong town, Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa) for the act of “Lending heavy interest in civil transactions”.
Before being detained by the police, Vu was renting a temporary apartment at Vincoland Apartment, Xuan Phu Ward, Hue City, to specialize in “practicing” usury.

According to the police, at the end of February, Vu entered Hue City with the purpose of looking for work. Here, knowing that many people needed to borrow money without collateral, Vu had an intention to organize a loan with a “terrible” interest rate.
During the initial investigation, from February to mid-May 2022, Vu lent many people a loan from 5 to 40 million VND. Borrowers have to pay Vu an exorbitant interest rate ranging from 283% to 365 %/year.
The police determined that Vu’s “customers” mainly lived in rural areas in TT-Hue province. The investigation agency of Hue City Police is currently continuing to expand the investigation of the case.
