Most recently, Vietnam has just received the first shipments of Australian peaches and nectarines back to the market. After 5 years of negotiation and since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement took effect, Australian peaches and nectarines have been officially imported into Vietnam and are exempt from tariffs. This will further promote market diversification for Australian exporters, while also providing Vietnamese consumers with more choices of fresh, delicious, and nutritious fruit from Australia.

In 2021, despite both facing distance and blockade, two-way trade turnover of Vietnam and Australia still increased by nearly 50% compared to the same period last year, to 12.4 billion USD. Imports from Australia reached about 7.95 billion USD, up 70% year on year. Vietnam becomes Australia’s 12th largest trading partner, while Australia is Vietnam’s 10th largest trading partner.
