Recommendation to build a database to monitor the ‘health’ of the business

On May 15, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises held the Annual Meeting in 2022 and the Workshop on Promoting Science and Technology for Enterprises.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises (VST) Hoang Duc Thao, the Association has the goal of gathering, supporting and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members; assisting members in cooperation activities, scientific research and technology development, innovation, product commercialization…

Since its establishment in October 2019, in the context of complicated developments of COVID-19, the Association quickly organized many practical activities to bring benefits and connect members such as surveying results. production and business activities and the need for support to members; coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Committee of overseas Vietnamese to participate in science and technology activities such as the innovation startup ecosystem 2021 – 2022, Techmart, Techfest…; coordinate with the National Science and Technology Information Center to organize a showroom to display science and technology products in Hanoi, to contribute ideas on the Draft Science and Technology Development Strategy.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung acknowledged the efforts of the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises, and emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic caused many difficulties for the business community in the region. In the past few years, many Vietnamese science and technology enterprises with strengths in technology mastery have overcome challenges and developed sustainably.

This is also the general trend of the world when science, technology, technology transfer, knowledge transfer… increasingly make great contributions to the economy. In 2021, Vietnam’s innovation startup ecosystem alone, despite many difficulties, has attracted an investment of about 1.5 billion USD.

However, in Vietnam, currently the research results of scientists and creative ideas are many but slow to market and commercialize, not commensurate with the potential. That is the major limiting factor, which has not been made strong.

Therefore, the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises needs solutions to strongly develop the force of science and technology enterprises. We do not need to expect much in quantity, but must focus on quality, contributing a lot to the economic development of the country.

To support State management agencies, the Association needs to build a database on Vietnamese science and technology enterprises, to understand the fluctuations and “health” of enterprises, from which to see. existing problems, difficulties to research solutions to support and promote development.

Currently, the creative startup ecosystem in Vietnam has developed quite strongly. Large enterprises that have experienced as the previous generation need to cooperate with innovative start-ups, place orders for businesses to participate in solving the market’s problems.

“I very much hope that with the participation of the State Committee of overseas Vietnamese, more products will be introduced and brought abroad to create brand, prestige and competition instead of just in the country. The Ministry of Science and Technology always accompanies, listens and supports science and technology enterprises to perfect management policies.“, Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung said.

According to VST President Hoang Duc Thao, currently, there are many enterprises under the Association that have limited capacity, have not promoted market research, and modest revenue… Therefore, promoting businesses to link and cooperate Investment development, application of science and technology to production and business to create high-quality products to meet domestic and international market demands are important factors in the context of economic integration. international.

Sharing the same opinion, Ms. Bui Thanh Hang, Head of Communication at Techfest 2022, said that startups always have enthusiasm, energy and ideas. Therefore, if supported by advanced science and technology enterprises, startups will be “more confident” to participate in the market on the basis of shared interests.

“In order to continue to support businesses, in 2022, the Association will promote member development activities, develop clubs in provinces, organize national-scale seminars… to support businesses. ; coordinate with units to organize programs on innovation in enterprises, proceed to establish a technology trading floor in Ho Chi Minh City, guide the implementation of preferential policies, survey the status and needs of business activities”, shared Ms. Phan Thi My Yen – Standing Vice President and General Secretary of the Association.

Also within the framework of the conference, the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises honored the Top 10 and Top 100 typical science and technology enterprises.
