Mr. Liang Shi still hopes to go to university.

Mr. Liang Shi (55 years old) is currently the owner of a construction material supply company in Chengdu city, Sichuan province, China. Few people know that the man has been diligently taking the university entrance exam since 1983 but still has not passed.

In 1938, for the first time, Mr. Liang Shi took the university entrance exam for the first time and was immediately eliminated in the preliminary examination. “My test scores were very low that year, but my dream of getting into the school was always burning. That’s why I never gave up all these years,” said Mr. Liang.

In nearly four decades of failing exams, Mr. Liang had failed to take the exam 14 times for various reasons, such as work problems or because the admissions policy before 2001 required students to be under 25 years old and unmarried.

The highest score Mr. Liang has achieved in many years is more than 400 out of 750. This result is enough for Mr. Liang to be admitted to a second-rate university in China. However, he felt disappointed because his score was not high enough to get into Sichuan University.

After many years of not being able to complete the science reading comprehension test – a mandatory test for candidates who want to major in Science, this year, Mr. Liang decided to change to a new major, Arts and Humanities. “I’m only 55 years old and I’m still young. I don’t have any problems in learning history and geography,” Mr. Liang responded to many people’s questions about how old age can make people have dementia.

Mr. Liang Shi affirmed that his memory is still very good for the university entrance exam.

“I will use people’s doubts as motivation and use the exam results to prove them wrong,” said Mr. Liang, reiterating his goal of getting into Sichuan University in the June exam. .

The university entrance exam in China is usually held every year on June 7 – 8. On Chinese social media, many people expressed their admiration for Mr. Liang, hoping that his dream of going to university would come true.

Mr. Liang is not the first person in China to take dozens of university entrance exams. Chinese media reported that Mr. Tang Shangjun (from Guangxi Autonomous Region, China) took the 13th university entrance exam in 2021.
