The case of the wife killing her husband, drowning the body in a pond in Ca Mau: Surprised by the suspect’s testimony

On May 16, the Ca Mau Provincial Police Investigation Agency is consolidating the file to make further procedural decisions on the case of the wife killing her husband and drowning the body in the pond.

The suspect was identified as Son Thi Hong (46 years old, living in hamlet 1, Khanh Binh Tay Bac commune, Tran Van Thoi district).

The victim in the case is Mr. LVT (42 years old, Hong’s husband).

According to Thanh Nien newspaper, at the police station, Hong declared that he had lived as husband and wife with Mr. T for 4 years. The two have a 3-year-old child together. When he wasn’t working as a fisherman, Mr. T gathered his friends to drink, then went home to beat Hong.

Hong said, during the last Lunar New Year, after drinking, T. caused trouble with Hong. Seeing Hong holding a knife, T. challenged “Do you dare to cut me… delicious, cut it”. Because her husband often beat her every time she got drunk, resentful, could not control her anger, and was challenged again, Hong took a knife and slashed at T. to death.

After her husband died, he tied an iron and brick to the victim’s body, then dragged the body to hide in the pond behind the house. Because the victim was a fisherman and was often away from home, Hong lied that the victim followed the boat every time someone asked.

On May 13, the husband’s family said they would slap the fish pond (where Hong hid her husband’s body) to catch fish to celebrate the anniversary of Hong’s mother-in-law. Knowing that everything would be revealed, she could not hide her crime, so Hong admitted to her husband’s family that she slashed the victim and hid the body in the pond.

In the afternoon of the same day, Hong went to the police station to surrender.

According to Lao Dong newspaper, receiving information, the police force went to the scene to verify the incident. At the location where Hong confessed to hiding her husband’s body, the police force discovered a bone, a male belt, and a pair of jeans.

Currently, the Police Department of Ca Mau Province is continuing to investigate and clarify the case of the wife killing her husband and hiding the body in the pond.
