Who will get the 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Ho Chi Minh City?
People in the Covid-19 vaccine group with the 3rd dose will be vaccinated at medical facilities, hospitals, mobile injection sites or at home (for people who cannot move).
On May 16, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc signed a plan to organize the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine (dose 4) for people in the city.
Accordingly, the purpose of organizing the 4th dose vaccination is to ensure the coverage of the Covid-19 vaccine, creating sustainable immunity against Covid-19. The organization of injections must ensure safety, quality and ensure on schedule according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Health.
The plan of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee will inject 3 subjects. Specifically:
People aged 50 and over (expected to be nearly 1.9 million people, updated by localities to May 13, 2022);
People 18 years of age or older with moderate to severe immunodeficiency;
People in the high-risk group for exposure to Covid-19 (medical staff, frontline officers against the epidemic, workers, people working in industrial zones)
The 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine is administered with the following forms:
Vaccination at hospitals, vaccination facilities for employees who are working or people undergoing inpatient treatment at the unit (including people with residential addresses in other provinces and cities receiving treatment).
Inject at the mobile injection point in the locality according to the decision of the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City and districts and inject at home for cases of difficulty or inability to move to the injection points.
Ho Chi Minh City is expected to start injecting the 4th dose as soon as the vaccine is supplied by the Ministry of Health on the principle that any unit that is ready and ensures vaccination safety will deploy it.
The type of vaccine used is an mRNA vaccine (a vaccine manufactured by Pfizer or Moderna); vaccine produced by AstraZeneca, vaccine of the same type as the 1st booster dose (3rd dose).
The medical examination and treatment establishment is responsible for making a list of patients being managed and treated at the unit; organize vaccination according to professional guidance if eligible to organize vaccination according to regulations or guide patients to the locality to register for vaccination.
The medical facility makes a list of people working at the unit eligible to administer the 4th dose of vaccine to organize the injection (if the facility is eligible); in case the vaccination conditions are not met, take the initiative in coordinating with other vaccination establishments or the locality where they are located to organize vaccination for employees working at the unit according to regulations.
Social establishments, drug addiction treatment establishments managed to treat HIV-infected people make a list of patients eligible to receive the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine (dose 4) and send it to the direct management agency. To coordinate with the health sector to organize vaccination for patients.
Agencies, units, organizations and enterprises proactively review and make a list of employees eligible for the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine (dose 4) and send it to the direct management agency for coordination. the local government where the unit is located to organize the injection.
The People’s Committees of wards, communes and townships shall make a list of people belonging to the groups mentioned above who have reached the time limit for the second booster dose (dose 4) to organize local injection points.
