1. The solution combines satellite technology and traditional floating scrubbing for efficient fishing

The work was honored with a special prize worth 100 million VND belonging to author Dong Quang Hung (Khanh Hoa). The solution proposed by the group is a combination of modern satellite technology with traditional floating scrubbers to help exploit fish effectively. The combination of innovation and breakthrough helps to open up new exploitation directions for Vietnam’s fisheries industry, especially in offshore waters, traditional fishing grounds and deep sea where seafood reserves are abundant.

With this solution, fishermen only need to drop 3-5 buoys placed next to 3-5 scrubs at different locations. Based on the fish buoy data sent back via satellite waves, the ship owner can determine the fishing position, forecasting signals such as coordinates, how deep the fish is, the expected weight of fish, Water temperature, current… When there is a fish signal, the new fisherman can catch fish, both efficiently and saving fuel and cost per trip.

The great advantage of the solution is that with only an investment of about 100 million VND, fishermen can access technology and increase their fishing output by 3 to 5 times, and at the same time save 40% of fuel.

The solution also helps to provide a meaningful source of data in the assessment and forecasting of fishing grounds, serving research agencies and forecasting fishery resources.

According to the author, with nearly 44,000 vessels of various occupations (seine nets, gill nets, tuna fishing), this solution can bring a market value of up to 5 million USD/year ($10/vessel) /month).

2. Lycopene extraction from gac fruit

The initiative of the G5 group of scientists, a research group to develop new materials under the Institute of Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology was awarded the first prize, a prize worth 50 million VND. The work has successfully isolated 98% pure lycopene and water-soluble lycopene nano.

Lycopene and lycopene nanosystem are valuable medicinal sources with great potential for application in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food technology industries. Realizing that the lycopene content from gac fruit is 70-100 times higher than that of tomatoes, after 3 years of research, the G5 team of scientists has successfully isolated it.

Offering a simple technological process, this solution can help cosmetic and food companies to import high-purity raw materials at reasonable prices. According to the group’s calculations, 1 kg of extracted lycopene costs about 50-60 million VND, 1/3 cheaper than imported products (prices around 150 million VND in the market). The research was patented by the National Office of Intellectual Property in January 2021.

3. 3D endoscopic bone surgery positioning device

The 3D endoscopic bone surgery device aims to thoroughly remove the tumor without damaging the cartilage and bone layers of the patient during surgery. Research by the group of specialist BS II Pham Trung Hieu, in charge of the biomedical 3D printing technology research center and his colleagues from VinUni University, received the second prize, the prize worth 30 million VND.

The device is designed to guide the doctor to create a tunnel from the outer surface of the bone (the safe zone) to the exact center of the tumor. Through this tunnel, the doctor will use the endoscope to remove the tumor in a convenient, safe way and without damaging any other structures of the joint. The team carried out the study with the disease of the talus cyst, which occurs when the patient plays sports or is active, causing damage to the bone cyst in the talus near the surface of the ankle joint.

According to the research team, the 3D endoscopic bone surgery positioning device is an improved model that helps doctors increase the likelihood of success in surgery and is in the list of techniques recognized by the Ministry of Health.

4. Deep Signature project – anti-counterfeiting technology using blockchain

Deep Signature technology was researched by the group of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Quan, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCM), and received the third prize (award of 20 million VND). The project helps manufacturers to activate unique representative ID codes for products using blockchain technology so that consumers can authenticate the genuine origin.

By using any decentralized blockchain to encode a unique product representative ID with the manufacturer’s blockchain wallet address, creating a unique “signature” that helps authenticate the goods to the right origin, making counterfeiting impossible. A special feature of the system is the creation of a “one-time authentication” mechanism against duplicating the ID codes of real goods to attach to fake goods.

Application system in commerce, distribution, manufacturing industry, medical, cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical. With a low cost, from 200 to 300 VND/product code (dozens of times cheaper than the current SMS anti-counterfeiting stamp), the group hopes the solution will contribute to building a healthy consumer market. , transparency at home and abroad.

5. Assamica centering tea

Assamica centering tea was awarded Consolation prize, worth 10 million VND, is the product of MEDTECH group led by Nguyen Long Hoang (23 years old), just graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Assamica centering tea is developed from the precious medicinal plant Crotalaria Assamica – the name of the long guava leaf rattle in the high mountains of Langbiang, Lam Dong. Assamica tea has the effect of stress relief, anti-insomnia; Currently, there are 4 product lines of tea bags, instant tea, bottled tea and convenient cup tea.

The research team has applied AI technology to monitor the production process, in order to optimize costs. The product has been tested for acute toxicity (safety), side effects and sedative activity on in vitro (cell line) and in vivo (mice) models at the Institute of Scientific Research. Central Highlands, Da Lat Nuclear Research Institute, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Children’s Hospital 2, showed safe results for health. Currently, the group has completed the procedures for patent registration.

The project of Dream Makers group led by Doan Thi Ha Giang (18 years old) from Dien Bien Province Ethnic Minority Boarding High School received a consolation prize worth 10 million VND.

The project is carried out with the desire to help Mong people who cannot hear or speak Mandarin to be able to take the motorbike driving test. The website to support the Mong people to study for the motorbike license exam has an audio file dedicated to the Mong ethnic people who can’t speak Vietnamese. The group wishes to develop towards other ethnic groups who cannot speak Vietnamese.

This idea was commented by the Jury Council as “very encouraging” when the contestant was still young but already knew how to move towards science and technology to support their loved ones, bringing positive values to the community.

7. Automatic device for measuring body temperature in Covid-19 room, taking attendance by RFID card to help easily manage students.

The invention from teacher Le Duc Quoc’s group, Thanh Loc Middle School – High School (Kien Giang) received a consolation prize, worth 10 million VND.

The idea was implemented in 6 months, developing a device with two outstanding features: measuring body temperature and using infrared devices to swipe attendance RFID cards, helping teachers manage students on software without need to be done manually as before.

The system has been practically tested in 2 classrooms of Thanh Loc Middle and High School since the beginning of the year and is highly appreciated. When expanding the system, the school only needs to invest in the programming part and add more information to the software for management.
